United Kingdom: ‘Golden Visas’ to End in Anti-Money Laundering Push

The UK will abandon it’s ‘golden visa’ scheme, under which high-net worth individuals and investors are able to gain access to the country under certain financial conditions. The move is the latest in the deterioration of UK-Russian relationships and underscores both Russian presence in Ukraine and the infamous Salisbury poisonings.

The UK believes that Tier 1 visas have been abused as a means to launder money in the UK and is keen to clamp down on the influence of dirty Russian money. As a result, they will be scrapped.
