S. Swaminathan is responsible for leading Tata AIA Life in all aspects of Legal & Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management.
He has rich experience in handling legal & compliance functions in Engineering, Petrochemicals and Financial Services businesses including Life Insurance. During his career span of 26 years, he has played important roles in the Company Secretarial, Legal and Compliance functions.
Swaminathan joined Tata AIA Life Insurance from HDFC Standard Life Insurance where he spearheaded the legal & compliance functions and was also the Company Secretary. He was instrumental in establishing the Corporate Legal & Compliance policies of the company since its inception.
Prior to that role, he was with HDFC Limited managing its Investor Relations & Corporate Secretarial affairs and customer relationship issues concerning various stakeholders.
Swaminathan started his career with a leading distributor of pump sets M/s. Agromach. He also had successful stints with Kaveri Engineering and Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. where he was instrumental in handling the largest ever public issue in its time in 1992.
In addition to being a member of Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Swaminathan is a law graduate from the Government Law College, Mumbai, and also holds a certificate in Oracle Programming.
An avid technology buff, Swaminathan enjoys embedding technology in all facets of legal and compliance. He is an active sports enthusiast and is also a qualified training faculty of the Art of Living Foundation.
Charles is a US/UK-qualified lawyer specialising in dispute resolution and compliance issues in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Indonesian related matters. Charles has over 14 years of experience working in Asia.
His practice covers primarily disputes work in “unfriendly” regions – where foreign investors often run into trouble. His work covers arbitration, litigation management and conflict resolution/crisis management. He also regularly advises on FCPA and UK Bribery Act issues, including assisting companies with internal investigations and compliance issues.
Nurirdzuana Ismail is Malaysian citizen with Biomedical Technology degree from University of Malaya has been Head for External Affairs for Chief Integrity Officer’s office since 2014 and a Certified Integrity Officer by Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy since 2010.
Together with Chief Integrity Officer she leads the integrity management system of PETRONAS and reports to the President and the risk and governance board management. She is responsible to champion and elevate awareness in integrity and ethics amongst PETRONAS employees and stakeholders through development and implementation of a structured anti-corruption programme including trainings and communications. Her active involvement in PETRONAS integrity and compliance committee includes continuous syndications and engagements in education, prevention and enhancement especially in conducting corruption risk assessments to ensure PETRONAS uphold highest integrity through transparent way of business.
Before joining, PETRONAS she was assigned to National Key Result Areas (NKRA) Fighting Corruption as the Head for Strategic Communication and was an Assistant Commissioner in Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission (MACC) and has served the commission in Putrajaya, Malaysia . Nuri has published extensively on integrity and corruption prevention initiatives topics including the publication of ‘Transparency Review’ magazine, the one and only internationally distributed magazine produced by public sector featuring articles on eradicating corruption efforts in both public and private sectors. She speaks frequently on Government Transformation programme on NKRA initiatives at national and international conferences. The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) was introduced by the Prime Minister in April 2009 and with the objective to transforming the government to be more effective in its delivery and services and accountable for the outcomes that matter most to the citizen and for Malaysia to become a fully developed nation by year 2020.
Leas Bachatene is a proven business leader with over 15 years of experience, having established and led commercial organisations in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Leas joined Complinet Group in 2004, a leading provider of compliance solutions for the financial services industry. He went on to found their operations in both the Middle East and Asia. Within 4 years of inception these operations contributed to over 15% of the group’s revenue.
Under Leas’ leadership, Complinet became the point of reference for the compliance community in the Middle East and Asia. This was achieved through a variety of strategic projects with regional regulators which helped to improve governance and compliance culture and best practices including the GCC Regulators’ Summit and the Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit.
Complinet was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2010 to form the cornerstone of their Governance, Risk and Compliance business. Following the acquisition Leas served as Managing Director of Thomson Reuters’ GRC division in Asia Pacific where the business saw double digit growth year-on-year during his five-year tenure. During this period Leas spear headed the acquisition of a major e-learning provider and was key to the successful integration of the GRC businesses with the broader Financial and Risk division.
Prior to joining Complinet Leas led various commercial divisions within the publishing industry for Informa Group and eFinancialnews.com in London.
Leas holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a High Diploma in Marketing and a Master’s in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
