USA: State district judge disciplined over bribery conviction
therepublic.com on November 28, 2011 reported that a state district judge convicted of felony bribery last week will serve 10 years of probation and resign from the bench under an agreement announced outside the jury's presence. Judge Suzanne Wooten acknowledged the jury's guilty verdicts on six bribery counts and one each of money laundering, record tampering and engaging in organized criminal activity. She agreed Monday to waive her right to an appeal. The Dallas Morning News reports (http://dallasne.ws/tj5Fn7 ) that the 43-year-old was fined $10,000 and sentenced to more than 1,000 hours of community service.
