Former Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini has started serving her prison sentence. The first person convicted in New Jersey's largest corruption sting arrived at Carswell Prison, a women's medical facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The 77-year-old was sentenced to a three-year prison term after a jury found she had accepted bribes from an undercover informant who posed as a developer. She was acquitted on more serious extortion charges. Beldini has repeatedly sought to stay out of prison while appealing her conviction.
