A Tuscaloosa County freight broker was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison Wednesday for his guilty plea to bribing two National Guard officials to steer $441,698 in military transport contracts to two Alabama companies he represented.
Daniel Boyd, 61, of Vance, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Hopkins during a hearing in Birmingham. The judge also ordered Boyd to serve three years of supervised probation once he is released.
Boyd is to report to the designated federal prison Sept. 21.
