Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said Monday the political system in Albany “looks pretty terrible” following the convictions of former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and ex-State Sen. Majority Leader Dean Skelos for corruption.
Bharara said both trials laid bare numerous conflicts plaguing state politics that cried out for reform.
“There’s no doubt now…there’s a deep problem of corruption in Albany,” Bharara said on WNYC’s “Brian Lehrer Show.”
