Uganda: Hearing set for former Vice President
allafrica.com on November 25, 2011 reported that the hearing of charges of abuse of office and fraudulent practice against former Vice President Gilbert Bukenya has been set to commence on December 5, 2011. Justice Paul Mugamba, the head of the Anti-Corruption Court on Friday said as it is required to expeditiously hear and decide the cases, he would hear the matter on a day to day basis. He urged both sides to prepare their witnesses along that arrangement of the court.On the first count of abuse of office, Bukenya is singularly charged, while on second count of fraudulent practice, he was indicted jointly with Motorcare Uganda Limited, a motor-vehicle-importing company wholly owned by Kjaer Group that is registered in Denmark. Bukenya and two officials of the company, Per Lundgren and Klaus Kartensen, chief execute officer and finance director respectively, were present in court as the court adjourned the matter.
