YOUNG people are celebrating the International Youths Day (IYD) this year, at a time when Tanzanians are preparing for the fifth General Election since the reintroduction of the multiparty democracy in 1992.
The elections are conducted after every five years. It is almost impossible to avoid talking about “election” in any meeting now. Fortunately people have been discussing the upcoming polls in a positive way, mainly calling for peace and stability throughout the election period.
The Association of Non Governmental Organsation of Zanzibar (ANGOZA) used the chance of IYD to ask the youth to discuss elections, encouraging them to take part fully in the democratic process by attending public rallies, listen and vote for candidates with best policies for change.
