Commissioner of Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Justice L.K. Wimalachandra has resigned with effect from Friday (15).
Wimalachandra, who is a former judge of the Court of Appeal, has resigned to allow the appointing of a new commissioner in line with the 19th Amendment that became operational following the Speaker’s endorsement on Friday.
According to the 19th Amendment, independent commissions should be appointed by the Constitutional Council established under the constitution. The Constitutional Council is yet to be set up.
