Police raided the headquarters of KT&G Monday as part of an investigation into allegations that a subcontractor of the tobacco company bribed a civil servant for favors when selling a factory site.
Police sent five officers to the KT&G offices in southern Seoul in the morning and confiscated computers and hard disks.
This came amid an investigation into a bribery scandal involving the tobacco company regarding a real estate deal made with Cheongju City government finalized in 2010.
At that time, KT&G sold the tobacco manufacturing factory site to the local government after the two sides agreed to a 35 billion won deal.
