A couple accused of taking part in tender irregularities amounting to R12 million has appeared in the Mahikeng Regional Court, North West police said on Friday. John Tibane, 48, and his wife, Tebogo Ruth Tibane, 44, appeared in court on Thursday on charges of fraud and corruption, Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said in a statement. “They were paid for rendering certain services to the education department, allegedly without correct procurement procedures being followed,” he said. Tibane was granted bail of R250 000 and his wife bail of R150 000. The Hawks arrested the couple, both of them directors of Tibane Consulting, at their home in Pretoria on Thursday, when they returned from an overseas holiday.
