The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday rejected the bail petition of former deputy managing director, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Shoaib Warsi over his alleged involvement in embezzlement.
Warsi is currently in the custody of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) over charges of awarding illegal gas connection and misusing powers during his tenure.
The SHC bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, rejected the bail plea after hearing from both the sides. Earlier, Warsi had submitted that he was picked up by Rangers on 26th August 2015 and he remained in their custody for the period of three months. After the expiry of his 90-day preventive detention, he was handed over to the NAB. The petitioner had submitted that he was not involved in any criminal activity and all the allegations leveled against him were baseless. He contended that since he was innocent, his arrest was violation of articles 3, 4, 9, 10 and 14 of Pakistan’s constitution.
