allafrica.com on December 13, 2011 reported that former Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Kwara State, has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for corruption and was ordered to return the sum of N500, 000 to the coffers of the Local Government Council. Mohammed Haliru Madugu was sentenced on Friday by an Ilorin High Court presided over by Hon. Justice A.O. Bamgbola, ICPC's Head, Public Enlightenment, Mr. Mike Sowe, said in a statement. The commission said Madugu was arraigned by the ICPC before the court on a three count charge of conferring corrupt advantage upon himself after a thorough investigation in 2004 in line with section 9 of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Act 2000.
