Keetmanshoop Regional Court Magistrate Sunsley Zisengwe yesterday granted another postponement at the request of former Karas chief regional officer Salmaan Jacobs, who faces five counts of corruption. It was Jacobs's second appearance in court this week. Zisengwe on Monday ordered Jacobs to obtain legal representation within 24 hours. Jacobs told the court that his previous lawyer, Lot Haifidi, had withdrawn from the case because of "miscommunications" over his fees. Zisengwe yesterday granted a final postponement until July 30 following a written request by Haifidi to postpone the case to allow Jacobs to raise the money he owed him [Haifidi] for three months of legal representation.
