The chief minister of Tanintharyi Region will be investigated for alleged corruption, said U Myo Nyunt, spokesperson of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD).
MPs in the regional hluttaw (parliament) relayed accusations of corruption against Chief Minister Daw Le Le Maw in a letter from the public to the president and U Myo Nyunt.
The investigation’s findings will be disclosed once completed, a member of the Anti-Corruption Commission said.
Among the accusations is that the chief minister awarded contracts to people associated with her without calling for tenders, and irregularities in the expenditure of K400 million to clear undergrowth around Dawei Airport.
