Jakarta. Antigraft officials arrested a member of the House of Representatives in a sting late on Wednesday, following a tip about a bribery transaction.
The Corruption Eradication Commission, or KPK, has not made any official statement about the bust, which took place in the Senayan area of South Jakarta, where the House complex is located, but local media reports have identified the legislator in question as Damayanti Wisnu Putranti of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, or PDI-P.
Beritasatu TV, with which the Jakarta Globe is affiliated, reported that the alleged bribe may have been linked to the road projects being administered by the Public Works and Housing Ministry. (Damayanti serves on House Commission V, which oversees transportation and infrastructure issues.)
