An Indonesian court for anti-graft crimes has sent a treasurer of the country’s Sport Committee to jail in corruption case, a move aiming at clearing the sport sector from such irregularity.
Johny E Awuy was found guilty of bribing deputy IV for sport development of the Youth and Sport Ministry Mulyana and another official, presiding judge Muhammad Arifin said on Monday night.
The bribery aimed to persuade them to speed up approval and disbursement of the grant proposed the committee, according to the court.
“The court states that the defendant is convincingly proven guilty in conducting corruption,” Arifin said.
