Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Sunday demanded an inquiry by the CBI into the allegations of corruption in Malabar Cements. In a statement released, he asked the government to take steps on it.
The CAG had noticed a loss of 100 crore in the Malabar Cements due to corruption and mismanagement in the last four years. The CBI which probed the suspicious death of company secretary Saseendran and his children failed to probe the corruption. In this situation, a CBI probe is inevitable. Former managing director Sundaramurthy of the company had alleged that former industries minister Elamaram Kareem has a role in the corruption. However the CPM had denied the allegation.
