Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has said that United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders should not divert the attention of the public from the corruption charges against them by insulting Left Democratic Front (LDF) leaders.
He was speaking after inaugurating the valedictory function of the Wayanad Raksha (Save Wayanad) march organised by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district unit at Sulthan Bathery on Saturday. The march was in protest against the alleged apathy of the Central and State governments towards the development needs of the district. Mr. Achuthanandan said that KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran was now trying to find fault with the stand taken by Kerala Congress leader. R. Balakrishna Pillai to support the LDF.
But Mr. Sudheeran should clarify what measures he had taken in a written complaint submitted by Mr. Pillai on the corruption of UDF Ministers a year ago, Mr. Achuthanandan said. The LDF would cooperate with any leaders who fought against corruption, Mr. Achuthanandan said.
