A Delhi court on Saturday sentenced former BJP president Bangaru Laxman to four years in jail for taking a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh inside the party headquarters in a fictitious arms deal case 11 years ago. He is the first politician to be convicted in a sting operation and this is also the first instance of a party president being sentenced in a corruption case. Laxman, at present a member of the BJP national executive, convicted by the court on Friday was caught on camera by an undercover journalist posing as an arms dealers.
