In a major trap, sleuths of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) caught a 51-year-old executive engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The accused Sidharth Rajaram Rasal, a Class-I officer, is attached to the MSEDCL division in Manchar in Ambegaon taluka. An FIR was filed at the Manchar police station under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to Pune ACB, a contractor engaged in installing electricity meters had filed the complaint. Rasal allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to issue permission for installing 97 meters. He allegedly threatened to remove the transformers if the money was not paid.
