The state Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) sleuths are preparing the grounds for slapping yet another charge of criminal misconduct against tainted deputy conservator of forest Deepak Bhat who has been already booked for possessing unaccounted cash Rs19.25 lakhs.
Apart from transfers, Bhat’s other actions of approvals and sanctions in the capacity of his official position would be also under scanner. Bhat’s suspension is now on the cards as ACB has already sent reports of the action against him to the government and forest secretary.
Bhat, arrested on Sunday, has been remanded to the custody of state ACB till June 4 after he was produced before the special court, created under the statue of Prevention of corruption, Act, on Monday. The senior forest official was nabbed with substantial cash on Friday evening (and not Saturday as reported by TOI over the last two days) as he was supposed to board a Pune-bound bus by the ACB sleuths.
