India: ACB catches two civic officials accepting bribe
hindustantimes.com on November 20, 2011 reported that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught assistant municipal commissioner AR Khan and sub-engineer Ayub Sheikh of M East ward of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 82,000 at BMC’s Chembur office on Saturday. ACB officials said a trap was laid after a contractor on BMC’s list for waste disposal lodged a complaint that Khan and Sheikh were demanding 3% of the total bill amount put forth by the contractor’s company.
