Wang Erzhi, a former provincial political advisor in northeast China’s Jilin Province, was sentenced to 14 years in prison Friday for taking bribes of over 50.7 million yuan (7.18 million U.S. dollars).
Wang, former vice chairman of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, was also fined 4 million yuan, according to a statement by the Intermediate People’s Court of Harbin in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province.
The money and property that Wang had received in the form of bribes, as well as any interest arising from them, will be turned over to the national treasury.
Wang was found to have used his various positions between November 2001 and February 2018 in Jilin Province to help others with project contracting and construction, as well as land transfer.
