Former Party chief of Futian District committee has been sentenced to six years and six months in jail for taking bribes of HK$4 million (US$515,082), sources from the Guangdong provincial action team on commercial embezzlement said. Li Ping took the bribes to help a local property developer take charge of the Huaxin Village urban renovation project when he worked as Party chief of Futian District between 2008-2009. Among the 10 commercial embezzlement cases released by the provincial team, four are related to Shenzhen. Li Lin, former director of Shenzhen financial development office, was jailed for seven years for taking bribes of 1 million yuan (US$158,805) and HK$1.6 million.
