Australia: Real estate developer's executive admits bribery investigation
news.investors.com on November 30, 2011 reported that real estate developer Sunland Group is suing Matthew Joyce and Angus Reed in the Supreme Court of Victoria. The company claims that via Reed's Prudentia Investments, the pair made Sunland pay a fraudulent fee of $A14m for rights to land in Dubai in 2007. At the time Joyce was the MD of Nakheel subsidiary Dubai Waterfront. Jack Rush QC, on behalf of Reed, on 29 November 2011 questioned David Brown, the former head of Middle Eastern operations at Sunland. The witness conceded he had faced a bribery investigation, which contradicts previous statements to the stock market by Sunland.
