Podcast l Impact of Cost of Compliance
In this podcast, Jane Niven, Global Client Governance Counsel at Jones Lang LaSalle in France, discusses the impact of cost of compliance placed on financial institutions and third party vendors brought about by increased and extended regulations; and how this cost can be effectively managed and mitigated.
After many years in private practice in a variety of jurisdictions in 2004 Jane entered the in-house world with Jones Lang La Salle. As regional general counsel for Asia-Pacific, Jane had primary responsibility for ethics and compliance in 13 countries, covering in excess of 25,000 employees. She ran a team, which under her stewardship grew to 18 lawyers. Keeping its clients safe has become a mantra for JLL and to establish the processes and protocols necessary to ensure the firm could meet this challenge, Jane was appointed as the firm’s first Global Client Governance Counsel in September 2014. Jane works both internally with JLL employees and externally with client compliance officers to ensure that JLL employees understand their obligations to the client, especially those in heavily regulated environments; that policies and protocols are developed in partnership with clients and that best practices in compliance and governance are developed.
